Ground Station 1
2025
Abstract
The design and construction of a satellite ground station with communication capabilities covering common satellite radio frequencies (UHF & VHF), with the ability to track satellites, endure outdoor weather conditions, and sustain on a stable power supply.
Project Details
The antenna must be able to receive on a common satellite radio frequency (such as UHF, X-band, or S-band). The antenna and mast must be able to endure normal outdoor weather conditions, such as intense heat, intense cold, humidity, lightning, and rain. The system must not interfere with other radio communications.
Project Objective
Design and build a satellite ground station with tracking capabilities and real-time data display utilizing a $1250 budget and a team of three by April 30th, 2025.
Mission Needs
Track LEO satellites and balloons, process data, comply with regulations, and support future upgrades for higher orbit tracking and enhanced data collection.
