Abstract
Develop and test a scaled composite aircraft fuselage that is able to withstand a 500 lb force with a maximum deflection of 1 inch and internal pressure of 30 PSI all within a budget of $1250.
Project Details
● Fuselage dimensions must meet SAMPE competition restrictions
● Fuselage must not weigh more than 20 pounds
● 4 door cutouts and dimensions must meet SAMPE competition restrictions
● Material restrictions
● Cost restrictions
● 3-Point bend test results
● Internal pressure of 30 Pounds per square inch simulation results
Project Objective
The project objective is to design and create a composite aircraft fuselage with material limitations in a
group of 4 team members with a budget of $1250.
Mission Needs
The composite fuselage must survive a 3-point bend test at 500 pounds with a maximum deflection of 1” and hold an internal pressure of 30 PSI while being aerodynamically smooth.
