Booster 3

2023

Abstract

The design, manufacturing and launch of a payload-capable booster that must reach a minimum altitude of 100 meters, record flight telemetry data, and deploy payload at apogee. The booster must be recoverable and reusable to be re-armed and flown again within 1 hour of its first launch.

Project Details

This project requires an aerodynamically stable flight with sufficient thrust and power supply to be able to deploy a payload and a parachute for a safe landing. The motor and parachute must then be replaced to be launched again within an hour. The booster and payload must weigh no more than 1.5 kg combined, and only commercially available rocket engines types A through F may be used.

Project Objective

Four team members must show competence to the aerospace professors by designing a solid
fuel booster using commercially available materials with a budget of $1250 within a 16-week
timeframe.

Mission Needs

Launch a reusable booster capable of stable flight and deploying a payload.
