Booster 1

2021

Abstract

The design, manufacturing and launch of a payload-capable booster that must reach a minimum altitude of 100 meters, record flight telemetry data, and deploy payload at apogee. The booster must be recoverable and reusable to be re-armed and flown again within 1 hour of its first launch.

Project Details

Design, manufacture, fly and re-fly a stable booster rocket whose weight does not exceed 1.5kg with the attached payload. A launch tower is designed from which the booster will launch a total of 3 times, with maximum 1 hour between launches.

Project Objective

Develop a reusable launch vehicle to economically and reliably deliver a drone to altitude within a budget
of $1250 by 3 students and a time span of 12 weeks in collaboration with a remote sensing payload team
to complete the senior design assignment.

Mission Needs

Launch a simple and reusable rocket booster to place a drone at altitude without damage to the booster or payload.
